Flowers of the Vico

Knapweed
Thistle
Black Knapweed and Creeping Thistle - these are remarkably similar - both Compositae (members of the daisy family). A large spider is using the thistle as an umbrella.

Is the thistle photo taken at the vico? I only saw the Black Knapweed up there.

It was taken quite near the knapweed, just past the bikepark. That's interesting from an evolutionary point of view because they must have branched off from a common ancestor to occupy different niches but have ended up in exactly the same place.

does that not just prove the existence of God? clearly the evolution paradigm is rubbish!!!

You're right! Alleluia!! God must have also supplied the koala bears with extra bags of Eucalyptus leaves so that could trek from Mount Ararat to Australia. But aren't we getting off track a wee bit.

True, we'll save that discussion for the "jesus rocks" blog i'm setting up! I saw the little oasis of thistle today - i missed it before, as only use the steps in the dark.
