Double figures

The Vico Temperature Monitoring Department is pleased to announce that, according to our highly accurate self-certified temperature measuring equipment, we are now in double figures.

This Easter must have been one of the sunniest on record (confirmation from Vico Meteorological Department pending), but it's taking a long time to have any effect on the aqueous saline heat sink (the sea).
There was limited seating space due to the warm weather. The little guy with brown teeth took my favourite spot - and he kept eyeing up this beautiful, lithe, black bitch, but she was way too big for him, so he played with his ball instead while I tried to attract his attention with a pressure induced vortex oscillation.
Tamsi must have got a cheap Lufthansa flight because she was nowhere to be seen, so the rescue services could relax.

No need for Paddy De Plasterer!

In order to raise funds for installation of handrails and restoration of crumbling concrete structures, It's proposed to market the pool as a

"wishing pool", whereby visitors to the Vico shall be encouraged (i.e. coerced!) to toss coins (not less than 1 euro, or equivalent) into "the magic fairy pool", whereupon they will be granted a "lucky wish" by said fairies, whose existence may be verified for skeptical visitors by a tour around the hill!

It's proposed that the proceeds of such venture shall be harvested by Vicovers, and exchanged for beer, champagne and truffles ... ooops, that is handrails, concrete and, yes, evil bleach!

Note 1: verification tours around the hill shall cost 10 euro.
Note 2: wishing for refunds shall not be permitted.
Note 3: wishes will not be honoured!

Vicovers' topic for debate?

Now that our unsolicited tourist officer is back scrubbing the Vico on a more frequent basis, the offensive odour of eau de municipal swimming pool,

and the sight of birds feeding on the seaweed by the pool, forces one to reassess the extent of unnecessary bleaching undertaken beyond the vital region of steps & paths. A brief bout of browsing reveals;

"A problem with chlorine is that it reacts with organic material to form trihalomethanes like chloroform, which is a well known carcinogen."

A less carcinogenic alternative

is proposed via an island de-settlement scheme, relocating some of the island inhabitants to the Vico. Covert initial tests involving a carrigeen moss force feeding program, to alter their digestive function from tasty grass to "yummy seaweed", are showing promising results, according to Vico's chief dietitian, Dr. D!

Vico refurbishment imminent???

What must be the least expected sign at the Vico is - amazingly - to be soon seen screwed to the changing hut wall - space & An Taisce permitting! - following the sensational breaking news of the day that a top celebrity is taking an interest in our plight. As a result of this, Vicovers may look forward to finally getting some

robust handrails, an interpretive centre, hot showers and a gas patio heater before the turn of the century, now that the rotund political activist and facilitator, Michael Mor (right), has joined the list of esteemed Vico contributors...
