Jellyfish

A couple more large barrel jellyfish (Rhizostoma pulmo/octopus) were cruising around this morning.

Bray Harbour Cameras

With localized fog engulfing the Vico recently, this is a great resource to get some idea of the local weather conditions, albeit from a distance!

Barrel Jellyfish (Rhizostoma pulmo/octopus)

A barrel jellyfish was seen about 50 metres off the Vico yesterday.
Today it was still there. Here's a photo (it's not a plastic bag)
If I didn't know better I'd think it was smart. It swum over to the steps, had a sniff(?) around the swimmers, and then swum back out again.
Good video of a barrel jellyfish (not this one) here.
I'm going to try to teach it to jump for fish tomorrow.

History of the area around Sorrento Point

There's an interesting publication at UCD with maps describing the history of Sorrento Park and People's Park (aka Dillon's Park).
there were many who came from the city and the surrounding parts to enjoy the glorious
view from the rocky eminences of the most picturesque natural landscape garden along the whole line of the coast upon this southern
littoral
Daily the new char-a-banc service plying between the railway station and Victoria Park along the noble Sorrento road is more fully appreciated, and as the summer days lengthen the tale of the tourists multiplies fast
